HFPA Approves Reform Bylaws, New Board To Be Elected by Early September

Three months after a promise of sweeping reform measures, Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) members approved a new set of bylaws codifying measures that restructure the organization along the lines of inclusion, accountability, and ethics, and greater responsiveness to the film industry and the diversity of world journalism. “Three months ago, we made a promise to commit to transformational change and with this vote, we kept the last and most significant promise in reimagining the HFPA and our role in the industry,” said Ali Sar, HFPA Board President.

HFPA Announces New Eligibility Guidelines for Future Golden Globe Awards

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today announced new eligibility guidelines for future Golden Globe Award shows and events, recognizing the diversity of excellence in the world by elevating foreign language films as candidates for its top award.   Every year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association examines its Golden Globes guidelines, considering new ways to celebrate connections of culture through film, television, and streaming platforms.

Over the last 26 years, the HFPA has donated $45 million to entertainment-related nonprofit organizations, academic programs, and humanitarian organizations, provided more than 2,224 scholarships to college students, and funded the restoration of over 138 classic films.  This year, licensing from the Golden Globe Awards has allowed the HFPA to donate over $6 million to 74 nonprofits and colleges that assist diverse filmmakers and students interested in filmmaking, film preservation, journalistic organizations committed to free speech, and humanitarian organizations worldwide that support refugees and that provide critical aid when natural disasters occur.
