UPDATE: HFPA Modifies Eligibility Rules for Foreign Films in Light of COVID-19

UPDATE: 01/29/21 On January 28, 2021, the HFPA adopted the following clarification to these special COVID rules: All motion picture drama, musical/comedy, foreign language and animated film submissions entered for consideration for the 2021 Golden Globe awards whose release schedule changes between February 3, 2021 (day of the nominations) and February 28, 2021 (end of current eligibility period) and therefore become ineligible for the 2021 awards because their release is delayed to a date after February 28, 2021, also will not be eligible for the 2022 awards.  If you anticipate that your film’s release date will be delayed to a date after February 28, 2021, please advise us prior to the announcement of our 2021 nominations on February 3, 2021.

HFPA Modifies Eligibility Rules in Light of COVID-19 Pandemic

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has announced these updated temporary measures to adjust the requirements for Golden Globe Awards eligibility due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on motion picture distribution and exhibition. Official Motion Picture Screenings:  To be eligible for Golden Globe motion picture awards, an official screening of the motion picture must be arranged for all HFPA members: All members qualified to vote for Golden Globe Awards must be invited to an official screening of the eligible motion picture at a third-party facility in the greater Los Angeles area.

Hollywood Supports Project Angel Food Amidst Covid-19 Crisis

In the wake of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Hollywood has rallied around Los Angeles-based organization Project Angel Food, which provides free meals to members of the community impacted by life-threatening illnesses. Recent donors include studio executive David Geffen, television producer and writer Chuck Lorre, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the non-profit organization behind the Golden Globe® Awards, which this week announced a donation of $100,000.
