Dozens of stars filled the Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom this evening – not to receive Golden Globes but, this time, to announce $ 3. 25 million granted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to 80 nonprofit and educational entities, 12 of them for the first time.

The documentary renaissance has brought new voices to bear on film making with works of insight, lyricism, political force and passion, expanding as the IDA states, “our understanding of shared human experience.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced a new initiative in which rising filmmakers from the 2018 Venice International Film Festival and the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival will be selected for a three-week residency program in partnership with Film Independent. Three filmmakers (writers, directors, producers) from The Orrizonti Section of the Venice International Film Festival and three filmmakers from TIFF's Filmmaker Lab, the Festival's flagship talent development program, will be selected to travel to Los Angeles from January 2 – 23, 2019 for mentorship, master classes, and workshops.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced today the presenters for the HFPA’s Annual Grants Banquet, taking place at The Beverly Hilton on Aug. 9.

HFPA Grantee They are between 14-22 and have covered the Democratic National Convention, the Women’s March and yes, the Golden Globes. They are young women from under-served communities that find empowerment and on-the-job training in digital journalism and media to bring their powerful perspectives to the global media stage.

HFPA Grantee While its campus has existed for over 100 years, LAUSD/USC Media Arts & Engineering Magnet's transformation into a cinematic arts magnet happened less than five years ago. Affectionately known as USC MAE, this 6th – 12th-grade school is located just south of downtown Los Angeles in University Park, right across the street from USC.

HFPA Grantee Echo Park Film Center, the brainchild of cultural activists and filmmakers extraordinaire Lisa Marr and Paolo Davanzo, is a community-based outpost providing technical and critical film education to the youth of Los Angeles’ diverse Echo Park district. The HFPA supports filmmaking workshops at the Film Center, an annual program which provides free screenings and multi-week classes on creative and technical skills, teaching the lost art of actual 16 mm filmmaking to young people.

The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced a donation $250. 000 to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) to help in the organization’s efforts towards the reunification of children separated from their parents by immigration authorities.
