HFPA president Theo Kingma (right) and Miss Golden Globe Sosie Bacon rolled out the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday in readiness for the Golden Globe awards on Sunday. They were assisted by executives from Dick Clark Productions, who are producing the show which will be televised live on NBC.

Champagne will be flowing freely at this year's Golden Globe awards. Guests will be toasting the 71st awards show with  125 cases of 2004 Grand Vintage Brut magnums, one of which will be on every table.

Hilton executive chef Suki Sugiura's menu for the 1,500 Golden Globe guests is inspired by California's fresh produce while celebrating the global reach of the Hollywood Foreign Press. "It's a thrill to put together the menu again for the Golden Globe awards," he said, introducing the menu to scores of journalists, food writers and cameramen at the Hilton.

With a little over a week to go until the Golden Globe awards, preparations are well underway and excitement is building. Journalists, cameramen and television crews jostled for space in a packed ballroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel as plans for the Big Night were unveiled for the first time.
