Hulu’s hit show Ramy centers around the modern-day Arab-American Muslim experience in New Jersey. Alongside creator Ramy Youssef, the series stars Egyptian actor Amr Waked as Ramy’s conservative father Farouk who left Egypt in hopes of achieving a better life for his family in America.

Legendary now seems a fitting term for Whoopi Goldberg, twice a Golden Globe winner for The Color Purple (in 1986) and Ghost (1991 – also an Oscar), the first woman to host the Academy Awards, in 1994, social and political activist since the Comic Relief era and now a TV personality and very vocal both in the #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements. And she is truly irrepressible wielding the resolve that led her to send an Instagram message to Pope Francis: “Good morning Your Holiness,” she wrote.

This year’s Golden Globe awards saw Jodie Comer nominated for Best Performance by an Actress TV series Drama for her role as Villanelle in the groundbreaking series, Killing Eve. The same role brought her a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series as well as a BAFTA TV Award last year.
