“The Law According to Lidia Poët” – First Female Lawyer in Italy

The Law According to Lidia Poët is an Italian television series streaming on Netflix, inspired by the true story of the first female lawyer in Italy. Set in the 1880s in the historic city of Turin in the Piedmont region – it had been capital of the Kingdom of Italy from 1861 to 1864 – each of the six episodes deals with a fictional murder mystery, brilliantly solved by this fearless young woman, who offers legal representation to the person unjustly accused of the crime and conducts daring investigations to prove their innocence and discover the real culprit.

“The 1619 Project” – First Enslaved Africans Arrive in North America

The new Hulu miniseries The 1619 Project starts with a simple statement: “In August 1619, a ship arrived on these shores in Virginia carrying the very first enslaved Africans to be brought to the British colonies of North America. ” Through many different perspectives and narratives, the series expounds on how nothing in American history was the same after this point and, more specifically, on how American history has been shaped by the ripple effects of that voyage.

Russell Hornsby Takes on Don King in Hulu’s Mini-Series “Mike”

Actor Russell Hornsby portrays the larger-than-life character Don King, a ruthless ambitious boxing promotor who takes Tyson’s boxing career to the next level in Hulu’s Mike, a limited TV series that explores the tragic and controversial life and career of Mike Tyson, one of the most prominent figures in sports of all time. Hornsby, born on May 15, 1974, in San Francisco and best known for his work in The Hate U Give (2018) Fences (2016), and Meet the Parents (2000), gives a stellar performance and shows great chemistry with his fellow actor Trevante Rhodes, who takes on the role of Tyson.
