2022 Black History Month: Halle Berry, Director – “Bruised”
In 2000, Halle Berry won her first major award – the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Made for Television – for Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. Berry built on her success and went on to have an amazing career as an actress across all genres. More than 20 years after her big breakthrough, she made her debut as a director with the boxing drama Bruised. On the HFPA’s Women Breaking Barriers event at Sundance in 2021, she spoke with the other panelists about the obstacles facing women, and in particular black women in this industry.
