Annette Bening on “The Report”
Based on the true shocking facts of the CIA’s use of torture following the September 11 attacks, The Report, written and directed by Scott Z. Burns, centers on Senate staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver) who was selected by Senator Diane Feinstein (Annette Bening) to lead an investigation into the 2005 destruction of CIA interrogation videotapes. With the conclusion of the two-year investigation and tabling of the report, Feinstein announced the launch of a second, larger investigation. Only the 528-page executive summary of the 6,000-page volume has been made public but it is an accounting of the CIA interrogation program, the first time in history the government authorized the use of methods the United States had long considered to be illegal torture.
HFPA Member Brent Simon and Mirai Konishi spoke to Annette Bening for this video report.
