Charlie McDowell Talks “Discovery”, Sundance

Debuting his much-anticipated feature The Discovery at Sundance, filmmaker Charlie McDowell may have been excused for feeling anxious, knowing he cast the festival’s creator Robert Redford in a lead role. But truth be told, he might have been under equal pressure to make sure the news reporter in the film looks good. That woman just happens to be his Golden Globe winning mother Mary Steenburgen (his father is Globe nominated actor Malcolm McDowell). But this is not a film about nepotism. Rather, the film explores a scientific breakthrough that reveals what happens to our souls after we die. We caught up with McDowell at the red carpet for the world premiere.
