Duncan Jones, Travis Fimmel and Paula Patton on the World of “Warcraft”

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he was born right before his famous father recorded Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, back in ‘71, but Duncan Jones has always been at home in the world of science fiction. His first film, Moon (which debuted at Sundance in 2009) was a metaphysical drama set in a Moon base inhabited by a solitary astronaut. His follow-up effort screened at South by Southwest two years later, was a mind-bending super natural consciousness-transfer thriller. An avid life-long gamer, Jones has graduated to big budget studio fantasy with the long-awaited video game adaptation Warcraft, set in the world of the online game World of Warcraft where men battle orcs for dominance. The HFPA’s Mario Amaya spoke to Jones, Paula Patton and Travis Fimmel about the challenges of transferring one of the world’s most popular games to the big screen.
