Keira Knightley on “Colette”

Keira Knightley plays a celebrated French writer in Wash Westmoreland’s sumptuous biopic, Colette. The film depicts the author’s early years when she moves from the country to Paris with her boisterous and forceful husband Henry Gauthier-Villars (Dominic West), a well-known French writer and critic better known by his nickname Willy. He discovers his young wife has more talent with a pen than he does, taking credit for her famous novels about the beloved Claudine. The movie is a timely story of Colette’s struggle for empowerment as Keira Knightley tells HFPA member Katherine Tulich.
