Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, as the network proclaims, marks Bravo’s first foray into “scripted series”. The show stars Lisa Edelstein (House’s Dr. Cuddy) as Abby McCarthy, a self-help guru specialized in matters of the heart who finds herself with a bit of an image problem when her own marriage falls apart. Abby spent most of season one coming to terms with her unwelcome circumstance and then parlaying it into a budding career as a “divorce icon”. Things were further complicated when the relationship with her ex, Jake (Paul Adelstein), unexpectedly heats up again. In season two the lives and loves of Abby and her group of LA girlfriends get further entangled in the ins and outs of that inextricable messiness known as modern relationships.
