This five-time Golden Globe nominee and true California girl – she was born in Santa Ana CA – trained as a court stenographer but dropped out and worked as a supermarket checkout girl. She was 20 when she decided to be an actress so got some photographs and made up a resume saying that she’d done all sorts of things, which she hadn’t. Winning a Miss Orange County beauty pageant led to commercials and bit parts on television. She broke out by playing Stephanie in Grease 2 but really cemented her career with starring as Al Pacino‘s lover in Scarface. The rest, as they say, is history.
