Three times Golden Globe nominee Penelope Cruz won a Spanish Goya Award for her role in Julio Medem’s Ma Ma. In the Spanish director’s film Cruz plays Magda, a young mother who is diagnosed with cancer and has to come to terms with mortality and motherhood. An unemployed teacher, Magda faces the battle of her life against breast cancer even as the disease tests and strengthens her bonds to her family. The Spanish actress recently stopped by to talk about the film and a role which she found as heart wrenching as fulfilling.
