RIP James Caan: A Character Actor’s Legacy
The son of Jewish immigrants from Germany, Bronx-born James Caan passed away at 82 on July 6th. The four-time Golden Globe nominee started his acting career playing a sailor in Irma La Douce in 1963 and became famous when Francis Ford Coppola cast him as Sonny Corleone in The Godfather. He became a true character actor, passing on his acting genes to his son Scott Caan. HFPA reporter Ramzy Malouki pays tribute.
