Sam Smith on Writing On The Wall

When it comes to memorable movie theme songs, no one does it better than James Bond. Five decades of iconic songs have introduced cinema audiences to the many incarnations of Britain’s most famous and debonair spy … from the fiery vocal blasts of Shirley Bassey’s 1964’s Goldfinger to Paul McCartney and Wing’s 1973 opus Live and Let Die to new wave 80’s synth pop of Duran Duran’s 1985 A View to A Kill to Madonna’s strangely hypnotic dance orientated 2002’s Die Another Day. British soul singer Sam Smith is the latest pop superstar to take on the honors with his theme to Spectre, “Writing’s On The Wall”, but as HFPA member Katherine Tulich found out in this exclusive video interview Smith wanted to reveal a more vulnerable, emotional Bond in his musical tribute.
