Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet on “Beautiful Boy”
Beautiful Boy, directed by Belgium director Felix Van Groeningen and based on the best-selling memoirs of father and son David and Nic Sheff, is the unflinching portrayal of drug addiction and its devastating effects on family dynamics. Steve Carell plays David, a San Francisco journalist who has always had a close relationship with his son Nic (played by Timothée Chalamet). He’s bright, articulate and accepted into every college he applies for, but drug addiction throws his life into a downward spiral. His father tries desperately to save his son and restore his family. HFPA members Mirai Konishi and Greet Ramaekers spoke to Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet for this video report.
