It’s a Globes weekend tradition. And like every year the nominated directors in the Foreign Language category convened for the annual Symposium hosted by the HFPA and the American Cinematheque at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Pedro Almodóvar (Pain and Glory), Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), Ladj Ly (Les Misérables), Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite) and Lulu Wang (The Farewell) engaged in a spirited wide-ranging discussion on their extraordinary films and the stories behind them. This year’s debate was moderated by the HFPA’s Silvia Bizio.
