Among all the trials and tribulations in Game of Thrones none perhaps have been as heart wrenching as the events that have befallen the House of Stark. As Season 6 begins (to the agonizing relief of fans worldwide), the remaining siblings of the once powerful rulers of Winterfell are scattered in the far reaches of Westeros. And sisters Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams) especially face new perils and challenges. We spoke to the two young actresses who literally grew up in their respective roles. Here’s what they told us about their experience and what we can expect in the coming episodes and why they think that even with all the controversy about the show’s depiction of violence towards women, Game of Thrones really empowers female characters.
