Hugo Sánchez
Hugo Fernando Sánchez is a journalist and film critic with a career spanning over 30 years, dedicated to covering the entertainment industry.
He graduated as a journalist from the Taller Escuela Agencia (TEA), where he also worked as a teacher. He studied Law at the University of Buenos Aires and Film at the Avellaneda Film School.
Throughout his career, he has written for newspapers such as La Razón, Tiempo Argentino, and El Argentino. He has also been a film columnist on various radio programs including América, Radio del Plata, Radio Nacional, and Radio Con Vos, among others.
He was also part of the news portals Minuto Uno and Infobae.
Sánchez worked as a journalist and critic at the Argentine National News Agency, Télam, for 15 years, and he currently directs the website Reencuadre.com.ar.
As a specialist, he has led numerous seminars in various settings, such as the Cinema South Festival (Israel) and Piriápolis de Película (Uruguay), among others.
As a critic, he has covered multiple editions of the Cannes Film Festival, the San Sebastián Festival, Biarritz Amérique Latine, the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI), Unasur Cine (San Juan), Ventana Andina (Jujuy), Mendoza Proyecta (San Juan), and Pantalla Pinamar (Buenos Aires Province), among other notable events.
He has also covered the Platino Awards in Spain and the Riviera Maya.
Sánchez has served as a jury member for the Argentine Film Critics Association (ACCA) at both the Mar del Plata Festival and BAFICI, as well as on the jury for the Annual Audiovisual Production Award granted by the Buenos Aires City Legislature.
As an author, he contributed to the book “BAFICI 10 años – Cine Argentino 99–08” and also to “Korean Cinema in Argentina: A Movie-Like Story”.
