Ali Sar is the special correspondent for the Moscow Times, an independent English language newspaper in Russia. In print until 2015, it changed to online to increase the number of pages and is especially popular among foreign citizens residing in Moscow and English-speaking Russians.

Sar has also covered entertainment for international publications in Turkey and Argentina. He has been a long-time journalist in Southern California. A native of Istanbul, he is the immediate past president of the HFPA and has also previously served as board chair, vice president and treasurer.

In addition, he served as managing editor of the Los Angeles Daily News and he was a news executive of Thomson Newspapers’ Southern California Group. Sar also was president of the Los Angeles Press Club for two terms.
