Barbara Demerov is a journalist and film critic. She worked at Veja São Paulo, a traditional magazine in Brazil, writing the film and TV column for three years. Previously, she also worked at AdoroCinema, a major website, as a movie critic and reporter, covering film festivals inside and outside the country (such as the São Paulo International Film Festival and Berlinale). Demerov is also the founder of Cinematecando, a review website that was created in 2015 and which she ran until joining AdoroCinema.

Since 2018, Demerov has been a member of the critics jury at the International Film Festival in São Paulo. On several occasions, she was part of the Canal Brasil jury at festivals such as Kinoforum, Cine PE and É Tudo Verdade.

In 2019, she joined Abraccine — Brazilian Association of Film Critics — a respected institution that brings together critics from Brazil. Representing Abraccine, Barbara was part of the jury at the Olhar de Cinema — Curitiba Internacional Film Festival. In 2022, she was part of the official critics jury at the Gramado Film Festival, one of the biggest in the country.
