An award-winning entertainment journalist with more than two decades of professional experience, Brent Simon has worked for a variety of outlets spanning both the domestic and international realms, including Mtime, one of China’s leading movie portals, as Senior Staff Reporter and Film Critic; and Screen International, as a contributing film critic.

A three-term president of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Simon was honored by the publicists’ branch of the International Cinematographers Guild with its International Media Award in 2017. In addition to serving for 10-plus years as a review contributor to Magill’s Cinema Annual, he has thousands of bylines of film criticism, essays, feature pieces and talent interviews for a diverse list of more than 60 print and online publications, including Vulture, Newsweek Japan, Los Angeles Daily News, Yahoo Movies, Paste Magazine, Rotten Tomatoes, and IGN.

Simon has worked with AFI Fest, served as a panel moderator and industry analyst across various platforms, and also sat on many festival juries. Additional masthead tenures consist of nearly six years as editor-in-chief and lead film critic of the print weekly Entertainment Today, and a three-year stint as film editor of H Magazine.
