When Hedwig was studying theoretical physics, she started writing film reviews on the side. On exchange at UCLA for six months, she took as many film classes as possible. During her PhD, film represented her main escape. And even if she has subsequently pursued a non-film related career, she remains active as a pop culture critic, focusing on viewing films and television through a feminist lens and drawing parallels with film history. Aside from writing, Hedwig also enjoys public speaking, including moderating panels, conducting filmmaker interviews, introducing films, and broadcasting on the radio.
