Hosam Fahmy

Hosam Fahmy is a German-Egyptian film Critic. Started his journalistic career as a film critic while he was still a medical student and continued that journey until he graduated to be a psychiatrist based in Berlin.

Throughout the years he published more than 300 Articles about cinema. Besides his cooperation as a film critic and an Author with various publications in the MENA region, he worked as editor in chief of the Art section of Ida2at.com and Chroum.com.

Fahmy is a member of the Egyptian film critics association and also a member of the BVMJ (Association of German Media Journalists). He was appointed also as a Jury member of the Fipresci Jury ( the international federation of film critics) in Berlinale 2023 and Cannes Film Festival 2025.

Hosam Fahmy’s writing frequently explores the psychological dimensions of film, often connecting cinematic narratives to his background in psychiatry. His essays blend cultural critique with deep character analysis, making him a unique voice in both journalism and critical film communities.
