K.J. Matthews is an accomplished Emmy and Peabody award-winning journalist.
For more than a decade, she successfully shaped CNN’s media and entertainment coverage. She developed, produced, wrote, and reported on the entertainment and media industry for all CNN platforms. She was the driving force behind some of CNN’s watched specials including, CNN Entertainment Primetime Specials, CNN Heroes and a host of entertainment documentaries. She was also the driving force behind the network’s coverage for the Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, and the Grammys. Her work also appeared on AC360, The Situation Room, and Erin Burnett’s Out Front.
Currently, she can be seen and heard on BBC World TV, BBC World Service Radio, Germany’s DW English TV Network, SKY TV UK, and numerous other European media outlets.
Besides being an award-winning journalist, she’s a sought after public speaker. She’s moderated and emceed countless events, including leading a discussion for Oscar Winning filmmaker John Ridley’s Social justice summit, a new filmmaker series for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the Producers Guild of America ProducedBy Conference, the Turner Classic Movie Network Spotlight Series, the Digital Hollywood Summit, the USC Annenberg Broadcast School, Emerson College Oscar Event, UCLA’s PULSE Conference, the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles events, Paramount Studios Film Screening event, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s “Cannes First Time: Conversation” at the Cannes Film Festival, and many others.
KJ also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA and a Master of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from New York University.
