Kevin Bourne
Kevin Bourne is a Toronto-based arts and culture journalist, on-air personality, and communications and content marketing strategist. The former political staffer and TV broadcasting professor is becoming a staple on Canada’s cultural landscape as both a commentator and freelancer, writing and commenting on music and film & television. He has appeared nationally as a correspondent on CBC News Network and on CBC Music as one of the hosts of the national Polaris Prize radio series “The Ten.” He has also appeared locally on CTV, CBC Radio, CityNews, Newstalk 1010 and ByBlacks.com, and in the United States on Fox’s Black digital TV network, Fox Soul.
As editor-in-chief of the online magazine Shifter, Kevin has covered some of Canada’s top red-carpet events, from the Toronto International Film Festival to the Canadian Screen Awards, and has interviewed notables including Kevin Hart, Ava Duvernay, Fast and the Furious star Tyrese Gibson, Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, and “Orange Is The New Black” star Dascha Polanco. Named a Golden Globe Awards voter and Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer-Approved critic in 2023, Kevin has been quoted as a critic in national ad campaigns for Black films and TV shows, both in Canada and the United States.
Prior to this, he was the host of CBC’s digital content series In The Loop with Kevin Bourne, a music columnist and entertainment commentator on CBC Radio One, and the co-producer of the Shifter x CBC mini-doc series OT Rising. Bourne continues to champion Black entertainment and culture alongside his wife and business partner, Koliah.
