Krzysztof Kwiatkowski

Krzysztof Kwiatkowski (b. 1987) – journalist and film critic. Graduate in sociology from the University of Warsaw. Since 2007, he has been a contributor to Gazeta Wyborcza, Poland’s largest quality daily. He worked for many years at the weeklies Newsweek Polska (2008–2012) and Wprost (2012–2015, 2016–2020), where from February 2019 until the closure of the print edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was chief-editor of the Culture section. From 2018 to 2020, he served as deputy editor-in-chief of KINO monthly. His work has also appeared in numerous other Polish newspapers and magazines, including Rzeczpospolita, Życie Warszawy, Dziennik. Polska, Europa, Świat, Onet, Twój Styl, and Zwierciadło. He is the author of essays published in books, including the album Andrzej Wajda. Ostatni romantyk polskiego kina (Andrzej Wajda: The Last Romantic of Polish Cinema).

Since 2005, he has covered for the Polish press the most important European film festivals (Berlin, Venice, Cannes, Karlovy Vary, San Sebastian) as well as Polish ones (Gdynia, Wrocław, Kraków). In 2013 and 2014, he was curator of the “Confrontations” section at the Off Camera Festival, and between 2014 and 2016, a member of the Discovery Award committee of the European Film Academy. He has also served as media director of the “Młodzi i Film” Festival in Koszalin, as a script consultant for Apple Film Production, and as a selector for festivals including EnergaCamerimage, and the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

He was nominated for the Grand Press Award in the interview category (2014). He is a member of the Polish Filmmakers Association (2015–2022 on the board of its Young Circle), the International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI (board member of the Polish section), the European Film Academy, and the Polish Film Academy.
