Magdalena Miedl is a critic and editor of film, TV and culture based in Vienna, Austria. While completing her studies in film and theatre sciences she started working as a fulltime film critic in 2001. Her work been published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies for over 20 years now, writing film reviews as well as covering film festivals such as Berlinale, Cannes and Venice, and the award circuit. While also serving on various national and international film festival jurys she irregularly contributes in film journalism workshops for institutes like the University of Vienna, the European Film Academy, the Crossing Europe Film Festival, and others. After over 20 years as a freelancer she now works with the online branch of the Austrian broadcasting corporation ORF, topos.orf.at, and since has been expanding her work from writing into TV and video journalism.
