Manuel Estévez
Manuel Estévez is a journalist, teacher, musician, press manager and cinema critic. He has studied social communication at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano (Bogotá) and has won scholarships in art criticism with Idartes and Universidad de los Andes (Bogota) and in creative writing with Bogota’s Culture Secretary. He is the director of Revista Sono (cinema, music and culture) and works as press manager for independent festivals in Colombia, such as Muica (Traveling African film showcase) 2017–2021, Cinemigrante (Migrant Cinema) 2013–2017, MIDBO (Bogota’s Documentary Film Screening) 2017, FECI (Independent Film Fair) 2022. He is the founder and current member of CBCine (Bogotá Circle of Film Critics) 2014–. He has served as jury at the FIA Fest (2020–2021) and the Festival de Cortometrajes Nos Vemos en 16:9 (2021), jury and curator for de animation exhibition in the International Film Festival for Human Rights 2023 and voter in the 2024 Golden Globes. He has taught radio production, radical journalism, music publishing and podcast production at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano 2010, the Universidad Los Libertadores 2010 and the Universidad Sergio Arboleda 2018-2020.
