Maria Alejandra Bernedo
Maria Alejandra (Mariale) Bernedo is a film historian who holds a degree in Art History from the National University of San Marcos. Active as a film critic and journalist since 2017, she regularly contributes to the websites Girls at Films, Cinencuentro and Filmadelica. As a researcher, she focuses on Peruvian cinema, cultural studies in film, horror films and gender representation. She has served on juries at multiple film festivals and as a speaker at several conferences on film research and cultural analysis. Bernedo is a member of the Peruvian Film Press Association (APRECI), the Peruvian branch of FIPRESCI. She co-curated the exhibitions dedicated to two of Peru’s most important filmmakers: “Armando Robles Godoy: 100 Years” and “Nora de Izcue: All The Faces.” Her academic articles have been published in books about Jean-Luc Godard, John Ford, and Martin Scorsese.
