Miguel Ravelo

Film critic and graduate in Social Communication who has contributed for over a decade to the website www.correcamara.com.mx, where he serves as a critic and member of the editorial board, also covering various editions of the Morelia International Film Festival and the UNAM International Film Festival, among others. He completed a diplomate in Art History issued by the University of Claustro de Sor Juana.

Ravelo is co-editor of the book “Dos amantes furtivos: cine y teatro mexicanos” (Two Furtive Lovers: Mexican Cinema and Theater), published by Paralelo 21, in which he also contributed as an author with the chapter “Hugo Argüelles: Dramaturgia en la escena y la pantalla” (Hugo Argüelles: Playwriting on Stage and Screen). He is also co-editor of the digital book “Año COVID: Notas sobre el cine y la cultura durante la pandemia 2020” (COVID Year: Notes on Film and Culture During the 2020 Pandemic). He has been invited to comment on film genres and cinema history, to various episodes of television productions such as D Todo and Lugares secretos: Bitácora de un México escondido. He is one of the specialized critics within the Mexico City Film Catalog, a project that seeks to collect and preserve films whose protagonist, theme, or setting is Mexico City, project where he wrote essays on the work of Mexican filmmakers such as Alberto Cortés and Xavier Robles.

Miguel Ravelo considers cinema as one of the most important, complete, and enriching artistic experiences of our time, seeking, through his work, to generate interest and passion for the cinematic and audiovisual media, also identifying its possibilities on changing and improving our world and culture.
