Rasha Hosny

Rasha Hosny, is an Egyptian film critic, programmer, script editor and producer. She is a key programmer at Cairo International Film Festival. Also, she is an associate programmer at Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) and a competition section advisor for Silk Road International Film Festival. She studied Egyptology before earning a film criticism diploma in 2018. She has been working in cinema and film criticism field since 2008. Her writing productions have been published in several publications and outlets inside and outside Egypt. Rasha Hosny has served on the FIPRESCI jury for various international film festivals, such as  2023 Locarno, 2022 Karlovy Vary, 2017 Berlin and 2019 Rotterdam, where she was also a part of the Critics’ Choice Program in 2020. Torino Film Lab chose her to be a script reader after she was a script editor tutored by Romanian scriptwriter, consultant, and novelist Răzvan Rădulescu (March-November) 2022. She has expertise in programming short films, having spent seven years as the short fiction films’ programmer at the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts. Hosny was the first Egyptian and Arabic film critic to be selected for the Berlinale Talent Press program at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival. She currently works as an acquisition executive for Egypt’s first documentary TV channel (Al Wathaeqya). Rasha Hosny was the Egyptian Film Critics Association’s first female president (2020-2022), and now she is the deputy of the board. She produced her first short film, “Two Strangers, A Night,” while simultaneously working on her first feature film, “Seeking Haven For Mr. Rambo,” which has participated in many renowned development labs and financing forums and is currently in post-production.
