Silvestre Javier Lopez Portillo Villegas

Silvestre Javier is a film critic, communicator, teacher, producer and conductor/host with more than 25 years of experience in mass media. He was born in Mexico City on December 1, 1971. He graduated in communication sciences from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla and has a postgraduate degree in Film Analysis and Criticism from the Anahuac University and a masters degree in comunication and digital media from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla. He has contributed to various television channel and networks such as Canal 2 and Foro TV from Televisa, Univisión, Proyecto 40 from TV Azteca and MVS. His film criticism has been published in magazines such as Rolling Stone, TVyNovelas, and Cine Premiere, as well as in newspapers like Milenio, Suplemento cultural La Jornada and Basta, and broadcast on radio stations such as Radio Formula, W Radio and Radio 13. Throughout his career he has covered festivals and international awards (the Cannes International Film Festival, 16 times, the Academy Awards, 12 times, the Golden Globe Awards, once). as well as domestic festivals like Morelia, Guadalajara, Guanajuato and Riviera Maya. He is a judge on the "Jenkins-del Toro" Scholarship sponsored by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro. He has been a jury member and lecturer at various film festivals. He is the author of the book "Los top10 del cine" for the publishing house Algarabía and collaborator on the "Dictionary of Mexican Film Directors" by Conaculta. He has worked as a film critic and collaborator alongside famous and respected names such as Carlos Loret de Mola, Jacier Poza, Paulina Sodi, Danielle Dithurbide, Paola Rojas, Guillermo Ochoa, Adela Micha, Abraham Zabludovsky, Chucho Gallegos, Leonardo Kourchenco, Javier Solórzano, Carmen Aristegui and many more.
