Flavia Guerra

Journalist, film critic and presenter, Flavia Guerra studied social communication at the University of São Paulo and holds a masters degree in screen documentary from Goldsmiths, the University of London. After working as a film reporter and critic in O Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper for more than a decade, Flavia created Plano Geral Podcast and Videocast, specialized in cinema and TV and is also a columnist for Splash UOL . She also is a TV and radio commentator for TV Bandeirantes and Band News TV/radio. Flavia has also been covering the main film festivals of the world for 20 years, such as Cannes since 2007 for outlets including Estadão, Canal Brasil, Canal Like, CNN Brasil, UOL, commenting/reviewing the films in competition and also interviewing the main talents. In recent years she has been to the Sundance Film Festival, Berlinale, Venice Film Festival, Locarno, Premios Platino, Braziflian Film Festival of Miami, among others. Flavia is also the cinema curator of Numéro Magazine Brazil, the Brazilian edition of the French fashion, culture and lifestyle magazine. Since January 2024, she has been the vice-director of Abraccine (Brazilian Association of Film Critics). In cinema, Guerra has worked on several projects – fiction and documentaries – as a writer, narrator, producer and director. She directed the documentary, “Karl Max Way” (received the special prize in It’s All True Film Festival); coproduced and was the AD of “My Father’s Truck” (directed by Mauricio Osaki, shortlisted for Short Film Oscar 2015). Flavia Guerra has been part of the selection committee for several editions of Kinoforum – International Shorts Film Festival of São Paulo and Gramado Film Festival and Brasília Film Festival -two of the most important festivals in Brazil. She has also been a member of the jury for the Canal Brasil Short Film Award, which has been awarded to short films in festivals all over Brazil) for several years. She has also been a member of the Fipresci jury at Rio Film Festival, and in Tiradentes Festival and It’s All True Film Festival – for Canal Brasil. Currently, she is the curator of Feed Dog Brasil – International Fashion Documentaries Festival and is teaching in a cinema and TV documentary course in Centro Cultural Barco.
