Ludo (India)

Just like the board game Ludo, the film involves several stories that take shape simultaneously but separately, only to intersect eventually. As two characters in the beginning comment, “Ludo is life and life is Ludo.”
Writer-director Anurag Basu, who is known for such films as Life in a Metro, Kites, and Barfi! blends several different stories, characters and types of film genre, with the grisly murder of dreaded criminal Sattu Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) at the center of it all.
One of the stories tells of Akash (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Ahana (Sanya Malhotra), who discover that a video clip of them having sex has gone viral on the internet. Ahana’s wedding to another man is scheduled in a few days’ time: they try to get to the bottom of how the sex video got leaked.
In another story, a doting wife, Pinky (Sana Fatima Shaikh), finds out her husband has been accused of murder. She goes to her childhood sweetheart, Alok aka Alu (Rajkummar Rao), to ask him for help in bailing out her husband.
Meanwhile, an ex-convict, Bittu (Abhishek Bachchan), is released from jail after six years, only to find out that his wife and small daughter have moved on with their lives. As he goes on his journey, he comes across a little kid who fakes her own kidnapping (Inayat Verma).
And finally, salesman Rahul (Rohit Saraf) and a nurse who has been repeatedly bullied at work, Sheeja Thomas (Pearle Maaney), go about their daily lives, not guessing the dramatic turn that their lives will take soon.
The director-writer, who is also the cinematographer, acts as the narrator in the story, trying to explain the virtues and flaws of the characters in every story. But in the end, the film tries to make a larger point about how we should refrain from judging anyone for the choices that they make.
