New Looks and Colors for the Red Carpet: Kristen Stewart, Cate Blanchett, Danielle Deadwyler
The Red Carpet sets the fashion for the awards season that follows. Kristen Stewart, Cate Blanchett, and Danielle Deadwyler confirm that black and white are classics that never go out of style, but a new hue is blossoming. What are we likely to see? Almost every designer at Paris Fashion week showed green – let’s look at the trend.
Almost like an homage to the need for green on the planet, almost every designer featured the hue in their collection. Andrew Gn went with the brights that dominated at the Venice Film Festival. The jewel encrusted garments with matching earrings are the kind of drama that catches the spotlight on the red carpet. Note the strong, uniform eye makeup. While the look may be seen on the very young, most stars will dilute the trend and go for a muted solid.
Above: Givenchy showed green as a muted bright. Two looks that will definitely be seen on the red carpet are:
(l) Gloves and – especially on the fashion-forward star – the foot arch over-strap of the Mary Jane.
(r) Boots are unlikely to appear but the cocktail slip could appear at the pre-award parties teamed with an ankle strap sandal or a multi-laced heel. (See our footwear gallery of the shoe trends ahead).
Below: Saint Laurent showed green as a muted olive. The head cowl was spotted at the Venice Film Festival on Tessa Thompson and could appear amongst the adventurous actor.
Giambattista Valli showed a muted-toned green, almost gold, like the burned-out grass of the African savanna. The green is like perfume on the air, subtle and hardly there. This time, the sheer, in the form of a cutout is something that will be seen on the carpet; the only question is how much will be revealed.
Below: Lime green – in three trends – the bra top – that is definitely being felt this season: the exposed midriff and the shoulder-less sleeve.
Above: Valentino went with strong green sequins on the bottom and nude on the top. Nude is a definite trend, also called coffee; it has been cresting the last month.
