Golden Globes Fashion: Black and White on the Red Carpet – Style Spotlight: Lucy Boynton, Janelle Monáe, Lilly Collins, Eiza González
The red carpet was full of black and white – why this classic color reinvents itself annually and is always in fashion and a favorite of stylists. A make-up trend may be blossoming – and there was just a hint of color.
Above: (l) Lucy Boynton at The Pale Blue Eye premiere in Chanel – note the new hair color and the incredible black and white shoes. (c) Janelle Monáe in Alexandre Vauthier in Paris. Monochromatic (r) Lily Collins wore Valentino at the Emily In Paris premiere in New York City. The white dress paired with black hoes used to be a fashion no-no but style evolves. The combo finished with sparkly platforms looks perfect. The shoes echo the sparkle on the bows.
Below: Olivia Wilde in a black St. Laurent blazer dress sported a possible new makeup trend: rimmed eyes in black – not just the usual eyeliner but a thick outline beneath the eye. Um, keep an ‘eye’ out for this trend.
Above: Eiza González was elegant with a simple cocktail dress in black, with sheer sleeves and neck. Her hair parted in the middle; the sophisticated look completed with red lips.
Below: Natalie Portman in Dior. The embellished gown highlighted at the waist, collar and cuffs, the hair parted in soft, diffuse curls.
(l) Elle Fanning in a vintage Alexander McQueen, smooth hair, clean make-up and the classic red lip.
(r) Kate Walsh wore Stéphane Rolland, with a peek-a-boo sheer in the skirt. Note the black rimmed eyes – though not as intense as Olivia Wilde’s.
Danielle Deadwyler wore Dior for the Till Tastemaker event. Love the hair and the sheer cape which trended during the summer and could return on the winter red carpet.
Finally a hint of color…
Above: Kate Hudson in a silver Pamella Roland, shimmers in the spotlight. Women tend to eschew anything beneath the jacket when wearing a suit and Kate is no exception.
Below: Kelly Rowland wore an Iris van Herpen gown in dulled ruby red, with a pleated skirt, statement sleeves, and a cutaway bodice. The high collar is feminine and flattering, the cultivated spaced bangs – delightful and sophisticated.
Above: Ashley Park went with a zebra-striped Versace from Paris Fashion week, with a gauzy petticoat and bustier bodice. Her make-up was subtle, and hair softly groomed simplicity.
