Stars To Assist the HFPA in Record High Grant Giving
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will hold its Annual Grants Banquet Dinner tomorrow, August 13, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The
the night begins with a champagne reception at 6 p.m., with dinner and the presentation of grants starting at 7 p.m. The event marks the Association’s yearly announcement of endowments to a variety of institutions and projects, ranging from higher education and preservation of films to training, mentoring and promoting cultural exchange through cinema. The Banquet also serves as the official installation of new officers elected for the 2015-2016 period. As usual, a roster of stars will be on hand to announce and present the grants. Lady Gaga and Jake Gyllenhaal are the latest addition to the stellar group that includes Halle Berry, Bryan Cranston, America Ferrara, Saoirse Ronan, Andrew Garfield, Benicio del Toro, Sarah Silverman, Joe Manganiello, Elizabeth Banks, Jon Hamm, Jane Fonda, Elliot Page, Sharon Stone, Brie Larson, Dakota Johnson, Ice Cube, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jason Isaacs, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Randall Park, Sophia Bush, Topher Grace, and Ty Burrell. This year, the HFPA will grant in excess of $2 million in funding to various non-profits, topping last year’s contributions of more than $ 1.9 million. Through the years the Association has granted a total of $ 23.9 million to a variety of cultural, educational and charitable organizations.
