Jeffrey Tambor, Transparent – Nominee, Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy
For his groundbreaking role as transgender Maura Pfefferman, Tambor receives his third consecutive Golden Globe nomination (he won two years ago). He talked to the HFPA about the reach and influence of the show after three seasons on Amazon. “These young kids came and talked to me about the show. And that the youth get it is very, very important to me because having once been a youth, I know how dismissive I could be. This story is going out and relating. People are saying, my family is like that. Not so much political or gender issues, but mostly about the courage to have and be in a family.” That courage is explored on the show in the dynamics of Maura’s family and the impact of her coming out on her three dysfunctional children and ex-wife. Amazon renewed for a fourth season before the third premiered.
