Mile markers and anniversaries are always a good time to showcase what makes an organization special. And 1968, the 25th Golden Globes celebration, was a year that showed the world how good the Hollywood Foreign Press Association could be at tuning into the zeitgeist.

Sony reported last Wednesday that Where the Crawdads Sing has been approved for release in China on November 25. The film was released in the US in July and has made $50 million in international markets with a total gross of $140 million.

In his latest opus The Lost King, Stephen Frears tells the true story behind the discovery of the remains of King Richard III, which took place in Leicester in 2012. An incredible breakthrough, revolving around Philippa Langley (Sally Hawkins), an amateur historian who discovered the King's remains beneath a carpark in Leicester.

At the 1966 Golden Globes ceremony, held at the Ambassador Hotel on January 31, English filmmaker David Lean won the Best Director Golden Globe for his classic love story Doctor Zhivago. It was the third time in under ten years that the legendary director won this award in the same year his movie was feted as Best Picture – Drama, following previous double-wins in 1963 for Lawrence of Arabia and 1958 for The Bridge on the River Kwai.

Claire Danes, a four- time Golden Globe winner, played Juliet opposite Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo in the movie version of the Shakespeare tragedy directed by Baz Luhrmann Romeo + Juliet (1996). The young actress talked about that experience with the journalists of the Hollywood Foreign Press during an exclusive 1996 interview when she was 17 years old.
