Vaudeville spanned from the early 1880s to the early 1930s, and at its height, employed more than 50,000 people in 5,000 venues all over the country. Musicians, dancers, magicians, jugglers, ventriloquists, puppeteers, animal acts all occupied the same bill and kept audiences entertained.

Uncharted easily charted to the top of the box office and gave Tom Holland the number one and three slots with his Spider-Man: No Way Home swinging back to the race. Solidifying his status as a box office star, Holland claimed the box office crown with Uncharted, director Ruben Fleischer’s movie adaptation of Naughty Dog’s video game series of the same name.

37 million fans loved the Playstation classic ‘Uncharted’. No surprise then that the live-action film version played its way into the top spot, while Germany’s most successful movie of 2022 so far stuck to number two, and Sing 2 held its notes in third place.

When Italian film director, painter, and inventor Alessio Della Valle (who was born and raised in Florence, Italy, and studied film in Los Angeles) had the idea of a thriller set in the world of art, he probably didn’t think that stars like Jeremy Piven, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emile Hirsh and Paz Vega, and an Oscar-winning editor like Zach Staenberg (The Matrix) would immediately come on board. But they did because of the strength and originality of the script, and they are now supporting the US limited release of the film, American Night, a neo-noir action thriller set in the New York City contemporary art world.

In a country where language, music, food, dance, spirituality, and culture are filled with all things Africa, one would imagine that Black filmmakers and actors would dominate the movie and TV scene in Brazil. Think again.

Three Hollywood Foreign Press Association members were among those honored at the Los Angeles Press Club’s 14th annual National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, taking home a collective five prizes in a diverse and crowded field of entries and finalists from outlets inclusive of the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Hollywood’s major trade publications. Typically held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, this year’s event was, like so many others over the past two years, impacted by the pandemic, and this time held virtually.
