Laura Dern, daughter of actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, was chosen as Miss Golden Globe at age 15, for the 39th awards to be held on Saturday January 30, 1982 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.  Traditionally, starting in 1963, the daughter, and occasionally the son (John Clark Gable in 1995), of Hollywood actors are selected every year by the HFPA board as Miss or Mr.

Wheelchair-bound comedy The Upside pulled off a major upset this weekend and beat superhuman Aquaman to first place at the US box office. Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart's remake of 2011 French hit The Intouchables took first place with $19.

Among the glitter and glamour of the red carpet, they were a discreet presence but the five young filmmakers nevertheless embodied an important part of what the Golden Globes – and the HFPA – are about: a celebration of storytelling as global art form and universal language. We are talking about the five fellows of the first ever HFPA Residency who attended the HFPA Golden Globe Viewing party as our guests this year.

The Ranch star’s deep voice was a source of inspiration for Bradley Cooper, who directed and starred in A Star Is Born. Sam Elliott portrays Bobby Maine, brother and tour manager of Cooper’s Jackson Maine.
