The Golden Globes is adding a new category to its awards slate, honoring the Best Podcast of the year. This new annual category, debuting as part of the 83rd annual event on Sunday, Jan.

LOS ANGELES, CA – April 24, 2025 – Today, CBS and the Golden Globes® announced that the 83rd ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBES®, the first major award show of the season, will air Sunday, January 11, 2026 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/5:00-8:00 PM, live PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U. S.

Theo Kingma, longtime Golden Globes voter, died at his home on March 21, 2025. Since 2017, Kingma served as CEO of Film Expo Group, which organizes ShowEast in Miami, CineEurope in Barcelona, and CineAsia in Bangkok.

For his latest film, Swiss writer-director Lionel Baier adapted the novel "La Cache" (The Safe House) by Christophe Boltanski, an autobiographical comedy-drama about the author’s family when he was a child during the civil unrest in Paris in 1968. The film played in competition at the Berlin Film Festival where we spoke with Baier about politically charged times and his collaboration with the late French acting icon Michel Blanc.

Every year, the Berlin Film Festival hosts 10 young European actors selected for the Shooting Stars program run by European Film Promotion. This year, three Scandinavian actors were celebrated as the up-and-coming European acting talent to keep an eye on: Danish Besir Zeciri, Icelandic Elín Hall and Swedish Frida Gustavsson.
