Clint Eastwood receives a Golden Globe for Best Director for the western Unforgiven, at the 50th-anniversary ceremonies held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday, January 23, 1993.   Eastwood was the recipient of two special awards from the Hollywood Foreign Press, World Film Favorite in 1971 and the Cecil B.

Hilary Swank is not usually associated with the sci-fi genre. But at this year’s Sundance Festival, the Golden Globe-winning actress stars in I Am Mother a post-apocalyptic thriller by first-time Australian director Grant Sputore.

The Last Tree, presented in the World Drama section at this year’s Sundance festival, is written and directed by Shola Amoo and is a semi-autobiographical film. Femi (played by Sam Adewunmi), is a British kid of Nigerian heritage: he is 10 years old when, after a happy childhood in the rural white idyllic community of Lincolnshire, he moves to a diverse, poorer inner London neighborhood to live with his biological mother.

It was a capacity crowd that convened at Sundance Headquarters on Main Street for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Women Breaking Barriers: Where Are We Now? panel. The panel, which built on last year’s event, was moderated by HFPA members Elisabeth Sereda and Silvia Bizio.
