For a 128-year-old character, Sherlock Holmes is doing very well. As we anticipate Benedict Cumberbatch’s turn as the Victorian version of the famous detective in his series’ Christmas Special, and enjoy Sir Ian McKellen’s turn in Bill Condon’s Mr.

Recently, when we see Jake Gyllenhaal on the screen, he is barely recognizable, disappearing deep in character, changing his physique. In Nightcrawler he became an emaciated line drawing of himself, all long lines and scary eyes.

Jake Gyllenhaal seems fearless in his choices as an actor – as can be witnessed by his astonishing transformation in Southpaw. But the 34-year old actor (and two-time Golden Globe nominee) reveals to HFPA member Tina Christensen that fear is actually what drives him.

The 2015 Primetime Emmy nominees were announced today and, for the sixth year in a row, the Golden Globes Awards presentation was among them with two kudos: Outstanding Special Class Program and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. Game of Thrones led the nominations with 24 entries including Drama Series, making HBO once again the leader of the pack, with 126 nominations.

For the second year running the HFPA's Golden Globe awards show was  nominated for an Emmy. The show, which was aired on January 11 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, was hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and produced by the HFPA and dick clark productions.

While Taiwan becomes a hot location for big-budget project, Taipei’s local film festival aims at new and emerging talent from Asia and beyond. With Martin Scorsese filming his upcoming movie Silence, and Luc Besson flying Scarlett Johansson across the Pacific Ocean for Lucy, Taipei is quickly becoming one of the hot new international movie locations.

It was only a year ago that the domestic box office numbers kept going down and pundits were seriously talking of the theatrical experience turning into something reserved for major franchises and for the new crowds of ticket-buyers in China and other territories. But as 2015 has entered into its second half, and after major hits such as Furious 7, Avengers: The Age of Ultron, Pitch Perfect 2 and Jurassic World, we can now safely say that those reports about the imminent demise of the traditional theater were, as Mark Twain would say, greatly exaggerated.

All good things must come to an end and so did Comic-Con 2015, with a mad rush here at HFPA SDCC HQ! The last press conferences included James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe for Victor Frankenstein, the revisiting of the Mary Shelley novel that focuses on the relationship between the misunderstood doctor (McAvoy) and his faithful assistant Igor (Radcliffe). Ryan Reynolds stopped by with the cast of Deadpool the R-Rated anti-superhero (or is it super anti-hero?) movie that made big waves at the Hall H Fox presentation.
