Talking Point: Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter, Golden Globe nominee as Best Supporting Actress for “The King's Speech”, said to HFPA journalists: ""Everyone's got an opinion about the Queen Mother, because she's so well known, but my job I guess was to get beneath her public front of amazing sweetness, because underneath she was a very powerful and strong woman. Royal photographer Cecil Beaton described her as a marshmallow, but made with a welding machine, and I felt like I wanted to capture that duality.

BLAKE EDWARDS REMEMBERED

  During 1979 interviews by the Hollywood Foreign Press with director Blake Edwards and his wife, actress Julie Andrews, for the movie 10 starring Dudley Moore and Bo Derek, HFPA correspondent Elisa Leonelli from Italy asked: What are the advantages and disadvantages of working with your husband? Julie Andrews:  It’s the best way to work, for me at least, because he’s the easiest man to work with.  Obviously I can ask him anything I want and we can talk about it after work; so the advantages are tremendous.
