If you have seen The Hunger Games, Beasts of No Nation, Selma or the television show Outsiders – which was just renewed for a second season on WGN America – then you have experienced the work of Tracy McKnight. The prolific Music Supervisor and Executive Music Producer’s work includes documentaries, television and features (blockbuster tentpole fare and independents alike).

It is “magico” said one of the organizers. And that may be the most apt description for the Film Festival in La Paz and Todos Santos in Baja California, Mexico.

An upcoming LACMA exhibition will bring Guillermo del Toro’s legendary horror collection to the public for the first time.  “This morning I woke up in the Dickens room, which is a room that is dedicated to Dickens, and all the furniture is Dickensian and Victorian, and it’s surrounded by books from the Victorian era (…) and I exited through the Nosferatu corridor by pushing the secret painting on the wall into my kitchen.

It’s a jungle out there and, this week, Disney is its king. The Jungle Book, the Mouse House’s new iteration of Rudyard Kipling’s stories about a boy raised by wolves, dominated the worldwide box office in no uncertain terms.

It may seem strange that giant online retailer Amazon would make a presentation at CinemaCon, the annual convention of the Theater Owners Association (NATO), where the major Hollywood studios screen trailers and footage of their upcoming releases for exhibitors.   However, as executives Roy Price and Bob Berney explained at yesterday’s luncheon, Amazon Studios is now involved in movie productions and acquisitions and committed to showing their products in movie theaters.

A generous selection of 20 titles (against last year’s 19 and 2014’s 18) with a mix of festival perennials, first-timers and exciting segues by recent buzz-worthy filmmakers sets the tone for this year’s Cannes International Film Festival.  The announcement of the 2016 edition of the event – its 69th- was made this morning in Paris by festival delegate general Thierry Fremaux and festival president Pierre Lescure.

The Walt Disney Studios surprised their audiences here with a special advance peek of its upcoming Pixar/Disney movie, Finding Dory, screening the first 27 minutes of the film.   Director Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall-E) and producer Lindsey Collins introduced the film, which features the return of the much-loved forgetful fish, Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), who is trying to reunite with her family, and the clownfish Marlin (Albert Brooks), the father of Nemo.
