Anna Sawai

Anna Sawai (born June 11, 1992, in Wellington, NZ) was raised in Tokyo and speaks both English and Japanese fluently.

Sawai is Golden Globes-nominated for her performance in the 2024 season of “Shogun.” She also stars in the Apple TV+ Monsterverse series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, led by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell.

In 2022, Sawai was seen in Pachinko, the Apple TV+ adaptation of Min Jin Lee’s novel, alongside Lee Minho and Youn Yuh Jung. The series has been renewed for a second season.

In 2021, Sawai starred in Justin Lin’s “F9,” the ninth installment of Universal’s “Fast and the Furious” franchise. Her additional credits include the Netflix/BBC series “Giri/Haji,” created and written by Joe Barton and directed by Julian Farino, and James McTeigue’s 2009 action-thriller “Ninja Assassin” for Warner Bros.
