2022 Golden Globe Awards

The latest offering by filmmaker Artykpai Suyundukov, titled Shambala, is based on the 1970 novel, “The White Ship”, by Kyrgyz literary figure, Chingiz Aitmatov. The heartbreaking story chronicles the life of 8-year-old Shambala (Artur Amanaliev) who’s raised by his grandparents following the death of his mother and the absence of his father.

A couple of years ago, a call for teaching Arabic at French schools sparked a heated debate in France, with the right-wing critics warning that the Semitic language would expose the young French Arabs to extreme ideas and possibly terrorism. In Margrete - Queen of the North we find ourselves in 1361, where a very young Margaret is witnessing the dead and wounded soldiers on the battlefield of Visby in Sweden. Cut to 1402 and Margrete has become Queen Margrete of Denmark and is negotiating with Norwegians and Swedes to create peace in the Nordic countries.

Recently diagnosed with a terminal illness, forty-something hairdresser Suze Trappet (Virginie Efira) decides to track down the son she abandoned when she was fifteen years old. While she is attending an appointment at a government agency where she faces the typical hurdles of French bureaucracy, a depressed IT security expert attempts to shoot himself in the office next door, missing the mark, and injuring instead the government clerk Suze is so unsuccessfully trying to deal with.

A comic-book movie-style super-hero fantasy made in Italy, Freaks Out is Bel Paese's answer to the Marvel and DC Comics extravaganzas. Not coincidentally, it's the Italian film with the greatest number of VFX in the history of this country.

Once again, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recognizes films from all countries and languages with the Best Non-English Language Motion Picture – and, this year, pictures created and exhibited overseas can also qualify for the Golden Globe of Best Motion Picture. The new title for this category is one of many changes that resulted from a second year of pandemic.

A baby lamb is born in the barn of an isolated farm in northern Iceland where Maria (Noomi Rapace) and Ingvar (Hilmir Snaer Guṑnason) mourn the loss of their daughter. Maria and Ingvar’s life revolves around raising a few dozen sheep and growing crops, mainly potatoes.

Zátopek is a film based on Alice Nelli’s screenplay, which tells the story of Emil Zátopek, the Czechoslovakian long-distance runner nicknamed the “Czech Locomotive,” winner of three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. It is directed by David Ondříček and stars Václav Neužil.
